BREATHWORK
Breathwork is a practice and technique that involves conscious control and manipulation of your breath to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Conscious control of the breath is often used for relaxation, stress reduction, self- awareness, and personal growth. On average, we have 14 breaths per minute, every minute of the day, every day of the year from the beginning to the end of our lives. The breath is essential to life as we know it. It is our primary source of energy and yet, it tends to be another unconscious process which is just happening as we move through life. Awareness of the breath brings your consciousness to the present moment. The present moment is generous, kind, and the purest form of love. There are many different conscious breathing techniques to explore, and each There are many different types of breathwork techniques, each with its own goals and methodologies. The most common are: Pranayama, Holotropic, Wim Hof, Transformational, and Elemental Rhythm.
MINDFULNESS MEDITATION
Meditation is a deliberate training of attention that awakens us beyond the conditioned mind and habitual thinking, and reveals the nature of reality. There are many forms of meditation—a variety of skillful means to quiet the mind and open the heart. There are countless contemplative practices, devotional practices, concentration subjects, mantras, visualizations, energy trainings, and inner listening practices to foster awakening, understanding, and love. In my practice I guide and teach meditation techniques to individuals and groups with the intention of being fully present and alive, body and mind.
SOMATIC EXPERIENCING
Somatic Experiencing (SETM) aims to resolve symptoms of stress, shock, and trauma that accumulate in our bodies. When we are stuck in patterns of fight, flight, or freeze, SE helps us release, recover, and become more resilient. It is a body-oriented therapeutic model applied in multiple professions and professional settings—psychotherapy, medicine, coaching, teaching, and physical therapy—for healing trauma and other stress disorders. It is based on a multidisciplinary intersection of physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics and has been clinically applied for more than four decades. It is the life’s work of Dr. Peter A. Levine. The SE approach releases traumatic shock, which is key to transforming PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma. It offers a framework to assess where a person is “stuck” in the fight, flight or freeze responses and provides clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states. SE provides effective skills appropriate to a variety of healing professions including mental health, medicine, physical and occupational therapies, bodywork, addiction treatment, first response, education, and others.
